Vet Services

The Wild Wood’s services are available to

Veterinary Surgeries and Independent Veterinarians

as well as pet owners.

Based in Nostell, Wakefield with our Memorial Woodland situated close by in a privately owned nature spot between Anglers Country Park and Haw Park Wood, Wintersett, Wakefield, we are committed to the safe and dignified cremation of deceased pets.

How We Work

A Look at Our Process

Some key information on our credentials and current procedures:
  • We are approved by the APHA (49/192/8105 ABP/INC) and registered to transport Category 1 ABP’s, so you can rest assured that our services are safe and regulated.
  • We take biosafety extremely seriously and have procedures in place to protect our pet parents, our veterinary partners and ourselves. This has always been a priority in our business operations from day one, and we have continued to adapt these practices throughout the COVID-19 outbreak to ensure the health and safety of all involved.
  • This means we are currently operating on a collection-only basis. The transfer of pets from the home or veterinary practice to our vehicle and premises is carried out by prior agreement according to our strict guidelines, in order to minimise risk of contact between us and vets/pet parents.
  • We carry out individual pet cremations as standard, but can also conduct communal cremations if specifically requested.

1

Our professional and expedient services are available at a competitive price, 7 days a week, and we can collect within 24 hours.

We prefer to contract directly with pet parents where possible – this spares your practice the difficulty of chasing payments and returning ashes. Therefore, we offer a referral fee for each cremation passed to us from our veterinary partners.

Honouring your best friend
Euthabag

2

We use the Euthabag in all of our cremations – a safe, secure and respectful way to contain a pet prior to their cremation. The Euthabag was created by a vet in Canada and has become increasingly popular in the UK, both for its ecological benefits and the dignity it affords the deceased pet. This product is also available to vets for transporting pets home after euthanasia ready for burial.

3

As well as the Euthabag, we also provide with each cremation a certificate bearing inkless paw and nose prints, and return the ashes in a scatter tube. Furthermore, as standard following cremation, we offer every pet parent the option to scatter their pet’s ashes in our woodland memorial.

If we are requested to carry out a communal cremation, we will automatically scatter the ashes in The Wild Wood.

In addition to the above services, we also offer caskets, urns, plaques, and beautiful memorial keepsakes such as Nose Nuggets (these are nose prints made from solid silver) and jewellery containing ashes or hair samples. We have an extensive list of memorial products which keeps on growing and can be viewed on both our website or Facebook page.
